AI Overview Checker

Enter any keyword and find out: does Google show an AI Overview for it? Which domains are cited? What text does the AI surface?

How it works

  1. 01

    Enter any English keyword

Brand query, category keyword, or competitor term. We query Google Search via SerpAPI in real time against US English SERPs.

  2. 02

We detect and parse the AI Overview

Whether an AIO box appears, the full snippet text, and every domain cited with position and context.

  3. 03

    You get a live result

AIO presence (yes/no), cited domains ranked by position, snippet excerpt, and related queries where AIO also triggers.

Why this matters now

Google's AI Overviews graduated from Search Labs to the default US search experience in May 2024. By Q1 2025, they appeared consistently across health, finance, SaaS, and ecommerce categories — exactly where high-intent B2B buyers search.

Traditional rank tracking tools tell you your position at #4. They do not tell you whether an AIO box appeared above position #1, who is cited in it, or whether your domain shows up at all. That is a different measurement problem entirely.

Most SEO tools miss this because they were built for a 10-blue-links world. AIO citations do not follow standard ranking signals — they favor pages with high entity density, strong schema markup, FAQ coverage, and demonstrable expertise signals. A domain ranking #8 organically can appear as the #1 AIO citation if its content structure aligns with what Gemini is extracting.

Use cases

SaaS marketer auditing category keywords

You're the growth lead at a $5M ARR project management SaaS. You're about to invest $8k in a content refresh targeting "best project management software." Before writing a single word, you run this tool — and see that Google is serving an AIO box for that query, citing Capterra, G2, and Notion. Your domain isn't in it. That changes your content brief entirely.

Agency auditing client AIO exposure

Your client asks why traffic dropped 22% despite holding rank #3. You check their top 10 keywords in this tool and discover 6 of them now trigger AIO boxes — all citing competitor domains. You have data, not speculation. That's the audit slide that gets budget approved for AI-readiness optimization.

Founder checking brand mention in AI answers

You're building in the sales intelligence space. You want to know: when someone searches "best sales intelligence tool," does your brand appear in Google's AI answer? This tool gives you a yes/no in seconds — and if the answer's no, shows you which competitors are getting that mention.

FAQ

Does this work for all countries or just the US?

Currently US English SERPs only. Google AI Overviews have the widest coverage and most commercial query penetration in the US market. UK and AU support is on the roadmap.

How fresh is the data?

We query SerpAPI in real time for each keyword check. Results reflect the live SERP at time of query. For repeated queries within 24 hours, we serve the cached result — flagged with a timestamp.

Does ranking higher guarantee AIO citation?

No, and that's the point of this tool. AIO citations are selected by Gemini based on content quality signals — entity coverage, schema, content structure, authority. A page at #12 organically can outperform a #1 result for AIO citation if it's better structured.

Can I track this over time automatically?

The free tool is a one-time check. For monthly monitoring — keyword set tracking, citation gain/loss alerts, and trend data — join the monitoring waitlist or sign up for SEO Magics Pulse.

What's the difference between AIO citation and regular featured snippet?

Featured snippets pull from a single page and display a block of text. AI Overviews synthesize from multiple sources and generate new text — with citations to the underlying pages. They occupy more SERP real estate and have different optimization signals.
